Visit Kunta Kinte Island, Museum, & Village- we’ll visit the island from the movie/series, “Roots.” St. James Island is one of the launch points for enslaved persons leaving the West coast of Africa. This island, located off the coast of The Gambia, hosts a museum and the UNESCO World Heritage site, the actual birthplace of Alex Haley’s (and possibly your) ancestors. We’ll tour the museum, visit the village, and take a boat to the island to discover with one of the very knowledgable docents. This emotional journey will take the full day & it’s definitely not something you’ll want to miss!
